As a student-athlete, there are significant demands placed on your time in order to succeed athletically and academically, while getting the most out of your college experience and preparing for life after college. Our office serves every student-athlete by coordinating with available resources on campus and providing additional programs to meet the needs of all student-athletes, while recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of our student-athletes. We serve to educate all student-athletes at each level of your experience. We welcome you to contact us or visit our offices for more information.

Mission

The mission of the Office of Student-Athlete Academic Services (OSAAS) is to support and assist student-athletes in their academic, athletic, personal and career pursuits. We believe in the value of empowering the student-athlete to reach his/her potential through education and experience. We are committed to upholding the integrity of Longwood University and its Athletic Department through academic honesty and compliance with all University, NCAA, and conference policies.

Our program integrates its services with those offered by the University. The OSAAS works closely with instructional faculty, coaches, and campus departments to ensure that student-athletes are formulating and meeting their academic goals while participating in intercollegiate athletics. OSAAS provides additional services for academic and personal success through programs such as study hall, tutoring and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

OSAAS should be consulted as a secondary advising resource, reviewing NCAA eligibility requirements, and resolving particular student-athlete issues (such as scheduling conflicts). Ultimately, the responsibility for knowing requirements and deadlines rests with the student-athlete.
